Welcome to St Peter’s Chuch
Our beautiful and ancient church dating back to 1180 is set in the village of Limpsfield and steeped in the prayers of the faithful who have worshiped here down the centuries. The church is open daily for private prayer or for a stroll around our lovely churchyard, a place of calm and tranquility in a busy world.
As a worshiping community our special aim is to love our neighbours and to help people discover for themselves God’s presence in his world and his love for them and all creation. We do this through our public worship each week, through the love that we show for one another, the welcome we extend to visitors and by our involvement in the local community and concern for all that happens within it and in the world at large.
In our services we worship God through prayer, in song and in silence. We listen for his word in the reading of scripture and its interpretation in sermons. Every Sunday we are strengthened in Christ’s service by receiving the sacrament of Holy Communion which we also call the Eucharist. Our music ranges from choral pieces and traditional hymns to Taize chants and more contemporary songs of praise. Children are very welcome at all our services and at the main 10.00am Eucharist there are two Children’s groups who meet during term time; Stepping Stones for children up to the age of three, and Xplore for primary school age children. On the second Sunday of each month the children stay in church to celebrate together our All-Age Eucharist with the all-age choir and orchestra.
