SSt Peter’s has a flourishing adult and junior choir, both robed. The adult choir sings every Sunday morning at the 10am Choral Eucharist and also at evensongs about four times a year.
The juniors sing once a month at the all age service, often with support from the St Peter’s orchestra. The adult choir is lead by Ann Osborn and the junior choir by Geoff Martin.
There are around 25 to 30 adults – with a good spread of sopranos, altos, tenors and basses, and up to 12 juniors of a range of ages. Practices are on Thursday evenings at the church. We also encourage links with our local church of England infant school, and the children come and sing special songs at major church services.
As well as singing for services the choirs sing at other events, like the Carol Service and special events, like excerpts from the Messiah at a celebration of the King James bible. Although we concentrate on church music of all kinds, we also turn our hand to other styles, and have taken part in music hall events and songs from the shows. The adult choir also sings at Cathedrals and other churches. For example we have sung for services in Southwark, Salisbury, Rochester, Winchester and Canterbury Cathedrals, St Mary’s Church in Bath, and Kemsing Parish Church.
We are always keen to welcome new members. The standard of singing is high – but no audition is required – just an enthusiasm for singing and a commitment to taking part regularly. Please contact the Parish Office if you would like to join us, and they will put you in touch with the Choir leaders.

Our Musical Director Graham Powell is an accomplished organist. Besides playing at church services and accompanying the choir and congregation, he organizes concerts with visits from a number of distinguished organists.
Since 2002 St Peter’s has been home to a fine pipe organ. Built for the Ministry of Defence in 1976, it is an excellent example of the neo-baroque style of organ design which flourished during the 1960s and 1970s. Its clear sound is mirrored by the silvery case pipes, and the instrument makes a striking impression on eyes and ears. Please use the adjacent link for a history of the organs in St Peter’s and for more detailed information on the present instrument. The Organs of St Peter
We enjoy a small all-age orchestra which plays during All Age Worship services and special occasions. We would love to increase the variety of instruments in our group. If you have some time to spare and enjoy playing an instrument with others, please cal or orchestra leader Helen – tel no. 01883-714068
